Pastor Marty & Oom Moo

Thailand

Singharaja Church is located in the city of Kalasin, Thailand, an area that is highly unreached for the Gospel in Eastern Thailand.  In fact, only 1 out of 250,000 people in this region follow Jesus Christ, making this part of the world part of the Frontier of Christian Missions.  It is such a joy to partner with those laboring for the Gospel here, as they have very few partnerships to bring comfort, encouragement, and advocacy.

Citizens of Kalasin, and even the King of Thailand himself believe the town has been cursed by a Laotian General.  They fear his curse so deeply, that a statue of that oppressive General was erected as a means of holding back the curse.  Yes, they celebrate their enemy to avoid his spiritual curse on their land.  Their citizens even name their children after inanimate objects to avoid being affected by evil spirits.  For example, instead of naming a child after a beloved grandfather (this would invite attack from evil spirits), they name their child “plate” or “glass”.  There is deep-seeded spiritual bondage over these curses, so much so the King of Thailand has never entered the city himself.

It is this environment that Pastor Marty Moo planted this church just over ten years ago. Brining the Ways, Truth, and Life of Jesus Christ to those who are oppressed and in bondage has led to steady growth in his church.  Though it is a very young church, the Lord has been blessing their ministry.  For the first time, a church building is now in use for music lessons, church gatherings, and a witness to the locals.  In addition, an agriculture ministry has allowed families to provide for themselves by raising and multiplying goats.

Living Hope Community Church is partnering with Singaharaja Church to provide financial support, encouragement, and mutual prayer for one another.

After hearing of our commitment to his church, Marty Moo responded, “I will speak to my Church that we have a sister church at America. My Church will be happy to hear that. God has provided your church to be blessing to my church. I pray that we will have a good relationship and support one another in prayer or action.  The relationship among sister church is so beautiful and helpful. My church is in remote area and far from Ministry partner. Having a Ministry partner is a grace of God. Hope that you will have a team come to Kalasin as same as you have come before. Hope to see you again.”

Please pray that Singharaja Church stands strong in the face of spiritual oppression.  Pray they can multiply disciples, and that the very young church will grow mature and strong.  Pray for spiritual protection over Marty Moo, and his wife Oom, and their teen boys Isaiah (16) and Ararat (15) who are studying at a technical school.  And join our team in praising the Lord that Ooms mother, who recently died, accepted Jesus in her final hours on Earth.

Please also pray for “One Chance to Hear”, a missions outreach to the 22 million people living in Issan, Thailand (the province Kalasin is in). The hope is that churches from other countries will join in igniting an evangelism movement in Issan. We are eager to witness a spiritual revival, and are calling upon thousands of prayer warriors to pray alongside. Pastor Marty Moo urges, “…Let us come together, brothers and sisters, and embark on this journey!”
